slipknot is an american nu-metal band formed in des moines, iowa in 1995 by percussionist shawn crahan, bassist paul gray and (now former) vocalist anders colsefni. they rose to fame after the release of their 1999 self-titled album, and after numerous lineup changes had settled on its nine members (shawn crahan, paul gray, joey jordison, mick thomson, jim root, sid wilson, chris fehn, corey taylor and craig jones.... too many guys) for over a decade. they're well known for their chaotic live shows, wearing mask/jumpsuits (which are very very gay), poor business decisions, and constant lineup changes rivaling even the likes of megadeth
but WHY slipknot ???

ok but seriously i know their lyrics and general.. themes get made fun of a bit for being very ~edgy teenager~ but IM an edgy teenager so im allowed (legally) to be edgy about this fuck you... i think the whole thing about being an absolute freak of nature and being really fucking mad a lot is ridiculously relatable as a teenager with my various problems and i dont know. the whole "concealing your identity because the music's more important" philosophy they had in their early days is very, very appealing to me (that and i like masks) and i could probably go on a whole spiel about their lyrical themes and et cetera but im not convinced i have the brain capacity. and i HATE to inflict my horrible teenage hormones on you poor folks (put up with it its my site!!) but mick thomson. wooowaah. only man in this real-life world capable of making me question my sexuality WOAW. and hes like super cool and stuff but whatever...
"oH bUt tHeYrE sO oVeRaTeD" i KNOW!!! THEY KIND OF ARE!!! no but like being fr i dont care much for their recent albums (like ahig and beyond..) and dont get me wrong or anything ill totally still listen but its just not the same quality. do they deserve to be one of the most dickrided bands in metal history? i dont know. kind of? maybe not to this incredible extent but i think they do deserve just a little bit of dickriding (which is probably why im making a shrine)
